A large delegation from Caen, France visited Nashville to commemorate the 25th anniversary of our twinning. Even pre-dating the sister city treaty, delegations representing our respective Bar associations have been conducting annual exchanges for 32 years. A comparative law seminar offering CLE credit has been the focal point of the visits. This year, SCN board members Chancellor Carol McCoy and Gail Ashworth presented on development in the law pertaining to end of life issues. The delegation also met with Mayor Megan Barry and Vice Mayor David Briley, who presented the group with a Metro Proclamation recognizing the significance of the 25-year partnership. Two sites that the French delegations always visit while in Tennessee are the Country Music Hall of Fame & Museum and Jack Daniels Distillery. Added to their visit this year were a tour of Hatch Show Print and a boating excursion on Old Hickory Lake. The group celebrated at a gala farewell held at the Cal Turner Family Center at Meharry Medical College. All French delegates received a Sister Cities 25th anniversary commemorative Hatch Show Print. |
