A Nashville delegation led by Metro Council Member-at-Large Jim Schulman attended the All Ireland - US Sister Cities Summit in April. The event was a celebration of the relationship between Ireland and the U.S. The objective of this summit was to enhance economic, cultural, educational and social development through progressive discussion about the future of Irish-American Sister Cities. Nashville delegates attended meetings in sister city Belfast, Northern Ireland to discuss future exchanges involving education; professional and civic partnerships; trade, business and tourism; and arts, culture and sport. Following those meetings as well as receptions by the U.S. Consul General and the Belfast City Council, the delegation traveled to Dublin for the Sister Cities Summit where Michael Higgins, President of the Republic of Ireland, gave the keynote address. SCN delegates were energized by the conference and enthusiastic about its many outcomes. To view a video about the delegation visit, please click here. |
