Host Family Opportunities
Sister Cities welcomes applications from Nashville-area families interested in hosting an exchange student. Children in host families, like those traveling abroad, have the opportunity to experience other cultures firsthand and build lasting friendships with students from our partner cities. Hosting an exchange student is one of the most valuable and meaningful contributions of our members and supporters.
Visiting high school student delegations stay for approximately 2 weeks at a time and hosts are asked to provide daily meals and transportation for students. Additionally, there are opportunities to host college students who are working in Nashville for the summer or during the academic year. For information about these longer programs, please contact layla@scnashville.org. Host Family Opportunities for the 2024-2025 School Year (High School)

Host Family Testimonials:
“Even though I knew very little Chinese, my student and I were able to communicate very well. She completely integrated into my family. It was interesting to teach her about our culture but also learn about her culture in China. It was a fantastic learning experience.” “I love hosting exchange students from Sister Cities because you realize how similar you really are to someone half-way around the world. You learn to celebrate diversity and embrace it with an open mind. – Kate C. “Hosting a student from Belfast and learning all about Belfast and its history was amazing. Even showing him what life is like here was awesome. It was an eye-opening, once in a lifetime experience." – Max P. “Being involved with the Sister Cities of Nashville program allows you to be an ambassador to our great United States of America. To be able to show someone from another country how great this land around us is gives you a tremendous feeling of pride. Welcoming someone into your home and sharing the ways of America and learning the ways of their country has no comparisons. This is a life-long lesson for everyone involved. It is a great experience and I would recommend it to anyone!” – Sheila W. |
