The Cherry Blossom Walk and Festival held on Saturday, April 9 drew its largest crowd to date. Thousands gathered at the downtown Public Square to celebrate spring and Japanese culture, dance, music and food. Sister Cities of Nashville sponsored the Cherry Blossom Walk which was led by Mayor Megan Barry, Consul General of Japan Masami Kinefuchi and SCN Board President Gail Ashworth. Hundreds of Nashvillians and their furry friends enjoyed the 2.5 mile walk along the Cumberland Greenway before the Festival kicked off at 10 a.m. A Sister Cities “Partner Spotlight” was featured from the festival stage with board members and Executive Director Heather Cunningham. Sister Cities’ Youth Advisory Board members staffed our tent selling t-shirts and beverages. It was an exceptional day enjoyed by many – young and old! |
