ABOUT THE TRIP

Winner and their guest will enjoy pre-planned VIP winery visits and tastings, gourmet luncheons and dinners, lectures from industry insiders, events related to Fiesta Nacional de la Vendimia, and will experience opportunities to meet and engage with residents of Mendoza, truly experiencing the hospitality and culture of this amazing city and country. This special Sister Cities trip was developed by to be a unique experience, immersing participants in Argentina’s gourmet wine and food culture. You will learn about the Argentine wine industry from the ground up—at plant nurseries (where grapevines are cloned and grafted), vineyards (where grapes are grown and harvested), wineries (where grapes are turned into a finished product), and restaurants (where consumers come into contact with wine at the end of the production, marketing and sales chain). You will learn about Argentina’s gourmet locally produced food (much of it practically organic) by visiting farms and production facilities for olive oil, fresh fruits and vegetables.
Our host in Argentina is David English, a Nashvillian who has lived and worked in Mendoza for over ten years. He was instrumental in forging the Sister Cities relationship with Nashville. As a participant in this program, you will be taken “behind the scenes” of one of the most important winemaking regions in the world, introducing you to award-winning wineries, legendary winemakers and local civic leaders.
ABOUT MENDOZA
Mendoza, a provincial capital of approximately one million people, gives you the chance to fully immerse yourself in Argentine culture. Long renowned for its world-class wines, Mendoza has become the center of Argentina’s wine industry, and because of its proximity to the mountains, a center for adventure tourism. A friendly city with sunny skies, a dry desert climate and broad sycamore-lined streets, much of Mendocino life is lived outdoors in plazas, parks and sidewalk cafés, where visitors have many opportunities for meeting and getting to know Argentines. In addition, Mendoza provides quick access to interesting outlying villages, mountains and rural recreational areas and is just a one hour flight from Santiago, Chile.
ACCOMMODATION
Our group will stay at a 4-star hotel in downtown Mendoza, close to numerous restaurants, shops and a supermarket. The comfortable suites have a clean and modern style. All suites feature air conditioning, internet connection, cable TV and other amenities. A beautiful breakfast spread including meats, cheeses, coffee, and a variety of fruits and pastries is included with your stay.
OTHER INFORMATION OF NOTE
This is a package price - if you vary at all from the group itinerary you must pay any additional charges. Participants do not receive refunds for missed excursions or activities.  Participants are welcome to arrive early or leave after dates of the trip package, but are responsible for costs accrued outside of the trip dates and what is covered in the trip package.  It is recommended that travelers bring at least $300 in U.S. cash (in $100 bill denominations) or more depending upon what you would like to do outside of the planned meals and itinerary.
