Mendoza Committee Meeting, Wednesday, March 3, 5:30 p.m.

The Mendoza committee will convene at Sunset Grill on March 3 to discuss student exchanges and the upcoming visit by Mendoza Mayor Victor Fayad.

Magdeburg Committee Meeting, Monday, March 8

The Magdeburg committee will meet at the home of Burkley Allen from 5:30 - 6:30.  Email burknewt@aol.com for details.

Belfast Nashville Songwriters' Showcase, March 11 - 13

The first showcase will take place at Dan McGuinness Pub, 1538 Demonbreun St., on Thursday, March 11 at 8:00 p.m.  Irish songwriters Aaron Shanley, Ricky Warwick and Anthony Toner will perform.  Admission is free.  On March 13, songwriters from Nashville and Belfast convene on stage at the Belcourt Theatre, 2102 Belcourt Ave., for a memorable eveningNashvillians David Olney. Bobby Bare, Jr., Elizabeth Cooke, and Pat Alger will join Irish songwriters Aaron Shanley, Iain Archer, Gareth Dunlop, and Ricky Warwick.  Admission is complimentary for SCN members, though you must reserve a ticket by emailing director@scnashville.org.  Doors to the Belcourt open at 7:15 p.m. with the performance at 7:45 p.m.

First Annual Cherry Blossom Walk Co-hosted by Sister Cities of Nashville and the Japan-America Society of TN, Saturday, March 27, 9:00 a.m.
 
Participants are asked to convene at Riverfront Park prior to the 9 a.m. start for a two-, three-, or four-mile walk on Nashville's Cumberland River Greenway.  The walk, which is free and open to all in the community, will be lead by Mayor Karl Dean, Consul General of Japan Hiroshi Sato, and Sister Cities of Nashville Board President David Briley.  The purpose of the event is to raise awareness of the Cherry Blossom Festival, as well as the missions of Sister Cities of Nashville and The Japan-America Society of TN.

Nashville's Second Annual Cherry Blossom Festival, Saturday, March 27, 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Co-sponsored by the Consul General of Japan in Nashville's office and the Japan-America Society of Tennessee, this event is free and open to the public.  A variety of activities highlighting Japanese culture will take place at the festival.  Sister Cities of Nashville will have a display, with information about all of our sister cities as well as our candidate city in Japan.

Magdeburg, Germany Exchange Students Visit Nashville, March 27 - April 11

Students will home-stay with area families, attend local schools and visit Nashville attractions.

Reception Honoring Senator Douglas Henry, Thursday, April 8,  5:30 - 7:30 p.m.

 A special reception will be held to honor Senator Douglas Henry.  The event will be held at Cohen Memorial Hall on Vanderbilt's Peabody Campus. Newly installed Consul General of France in Atlanta, Pascal Le Deunff will join us in honoring Senator Henry for his support of and contribution to international relations and foreign language learning in Middle Tennessee. 

The event is free and open to current members of Sister Cities, so double check to make sure your membership is current!  An e-invitation will be sent out prior to the event. RSVP's will be required.  

Nashville Students Travel to Gwangjin-Gu, South Korea, June 2 - June 16

Ten Nashville students participate in a reciprocal exchange with Gwangjin Gu, touring the area, learning about the culture and attending English classes with students in their host familiesIf you are a high school student interested in participating, please contact director@scnashville.org.
